Propylene glycol (PG), also known as 1,2-propanediol, is a colorless and odorless substance. It has a good dissolving capacity for flavors and therefore helps to develop flavors during vaping. It is not classified as hazardous to health. PG is mainly used in the cosmetics industry.
At the Mix your own liquids the ratio in which you mix PG and glycerine plays an important role. As both substances are very viscous, distilled water is usually added and the mixing ratio influences vapor and flavor development. If you add a very high proportion of PG, the vapor production will be rather low in favour of the development of the aroma. A high PG content is particularly suitable for places where you do not want to vaporize too conspicuously.
