Propylene glycol (PG), also known as 1,2-propanediol, is a colourless and odourless substance. It has a good dissolving capacity for flavours and therefore helps to develop flavours during vaping. It is not classified as a health risk. PG is mainly used in the cosmetics industry.
At the Mix your own liquids the ratio in which you mix PG and glycerine plays an important role. As both substances are very viscous, distilled water is usually added and the mixing ratio influences vapour and flavour development. If you add a very high proportion of PG, the vapour production will be rather low in favour of the development of the flavour. A high PG content is particularly suitable for places where you don't want to vapour too conspicuously.
